One of the reasons why we are repeatedly re-commissioned by The National Trust is that we are naturally tuned into the importance they place in "Spirit of Place". Sometimes it is evoked as part of a more traditional exposition but in the work we produced for Dunham Massey we had the luxury of developing an audio visual installation which embodied this sense of place in its purest form. The South Stables, once a bustling home to horses, cows and ponies are now presented in clean minimalist condition. Showing little visible signs of their former life we created a discreet film of shadows projected on the back wall of the stalls, as though the ghosts of the people and animals which once thrived here were still invisibly continuing their daily routine. Combined with a low key but evocative soundtrack we feel it really helps visitors to get an engaging insight into the past.
