St Benet's Abbey St Benet's is held in great affection locally and is visited by thousands of boating holiday makers each year. All that remains of this former East Anglian powerhouse are some church ruins and part of the gatehouse with a mill built on top. The owners, the Norfolk Archaeological Trust, wanted the public to have information about the historical significance of this unattended site, with minimal visual intrusion. Elbow's challenge at St Benet's Abbey, was to reflect the former power and influence of the medieval monastery, with minimal environmental impact. Elbow's solution was to create a fulsome website, with easy smart-phone access, and downloadable audio and visual aids ( ) alongside a marketing strategy which encourages advance information gathering. Combined with some strategically placed information panels at arrival points and a 'listening bench' offering an informative resting place for those walking to the church ruins, Elbow has evoked the past while cherishing the present.
